Is anyone using opti flexx??  If so do you give your calves anything for their hooves to keep them from getting cracks etc.  I know you have to do it for pigs when you give them paylean.  Any advice would be appreciated.

That's a new one on me.  But I've never messed with pigs.  We haven't noticed problems with steers before.

i have never heard anything about the hooves concerning cattle, the main concerns you should have are 1. The amount of time on feed 2. the amount you put in the feed and 3. watch the structure of ur calf, make sure it doesnt stiffen him up too much, just like in can with pigs

I havent ever had any problems with hogs feet cracking when on paylean. Maybe when they are also on sand but then the sand would be the cause of the cracks.

I was feeding opti flexx but my steer was gaining far too fast on it he gained 30 pounds a week and after 2 weeks of it he was getting to heavy so we are now holding him back for Fort Worth .
