Just wondering what others have heard? Thought it was bogus at first but might have legs!

Well, I'm not an OU fan (and even less of a Bob Stoops fan, btw), but the Tulsa World is reporting that Stoops told them "on the record" that he was not interviewing with Notre Dame... This according to KOKH (FOX) channel 25 out of OKC just now.

Yeah, I thought that an odd way to put it, too.  News9 out of OKC says he didn't "categorically deny" any interest in ND, but when asked if he was going to talk to them he said no, he was going recruiting.

I sure hope you're right and he packs up and heads north.  I'm sick of his sooners beating my cowboys every year.  On a sidenote.... why is it that Bob Stoops is mentioned for every coaching vacancy in the country?  Do people not think Oklahoma is a good job?  He gets paid a ton, he has some good areas to recruit from, and people here revere Oklahoma football.  To me, it just wouldn't make sense to leave a situation like that.  But for whatever reason, the folks on either coast are convinced that he's leaving everytime a coach gets canned.  I hope they're right.  Good riddance Big Game Boob.

I doubt it, while you can attract top talent, the academic restrictions will keep them from being an elite program. ie. Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, USC, Ohio State

Believe me, I would love to see Stoops, Leach, and Mack Brown leave the Big 12 south in that order. I will preface this by saying that I don't think Stoops will leave, even though he could probably make more money than he even makes in Norman. The only thing that would make it worth thinking about to him, is that he is a DEVOUT catholic, who goes to daily mass, and also has a clause in his contract that ou has to pay the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City to have a priest travel with him to away games, so when he has to miss mass, he may still take communion. I cannot stand ou and 95% of their fanbase (woldn't hurt my feelings if they lost every game they ever played), but if nothing else, I respect Bob Stoops as a coach, but moreso as a person.

I for one am an OU fan. ND is reportedly offering 24 mil for 8 yrs.  This would be a pay cut for stoops.  By the way, Stoops is not Catholic. He attends the Methodest church in Norman.  Not bashing your comments, but thought I would provide some insight as to what I'm hearing.
If he's looking for a challenge, he needs to stay where he is and get back to BCS contention.

With all due respect BJK, you are wrong on at least one of those counts. First of all, you should have a source on this contract deal, other than just saying that "ND is reportedly offering 24 mil for 8 years".  As far as what denomination he is, in 2007, I, as well as other adults (including our priest) took our Catholic Youth Organization from our parish to St. Gregory's College in Shawnee for their annual convention. Bob Stoops was the keynote speaker for the final session. His address to thim was about what his Catholic faith meant to him. I really doubt he would make those kinds of statements if they weren't true, especially in front of Archbishop Beltran. As far as the priest traveling with the team, Dean Blevins himself was the one reporting that.

Not trying to start an argument here, I was just stating what I know to be true.

I think it will all come down to the money (and the guarantee).  His wife's Mary Kay business is international, so she can be anywhere to earn her reported 2-3 million/year.  The family is in the middle of building a multi-million dollar home, so that will have to be purchased, and channel 4 reported last night that if he stays, he will get 30 million over the next 5 years.

If Bob Stoops wanted the N.D. job, he would already have said so. It is the middle of recruiting. He will stay at O.U. as he should. Who the hell would O.U. get that is any better? N.D. could still be a good job,and for my money,I would want Patterson. He like Stoops is another Bill Snyder guy, which ain't all bad....... For the record, Bob Stoops IS catholic.

I think you're right TMJ. He will stay there until he gets tired of it. He's already had the chance to go back to Florida twice, Iowa once, and the Cleveland Browns once. He turned them all down to stay at ou. That being said, I don't think the Gaylord family could out-bid the Vatican!!!!

That's what I'm guessing even though ND sounds like they want a Defensive coach!
