Our industry is in danger

I am sorry, but that video almost made me puke! Why is it the minority of cruel people get the majority of the press? I would freak out if I saw someone doing that to an animal, not stand there and keep doing my "undercover investigation" But wait, that might be because I care about the treatment of animals! If I weren't in the animal agriculture business, that video would tug at my heart strings too. That is what we are up against. We have an uphill battle! Look at what Ohio will be dealing with AGAIN in November. HSUS is back for them to deal with.

The bad part about videos like this is that it gives the entire industry a black eye because there are people in the city that don't understand there are reputable dairies running a clean business.  The point about profits is spot on too.  Think about this for a second - most people will go out and buy a $75 Wii or Xbox game and not think twice, but you raise their milk price 10 cents and they come unglued.  Something has got to give when it comes to food production.  Reports like this complain about the actions of the big producer.  However, if we can't find a model to keep the smaller producers in business, we'll see many more reports like this and that goes for all parts of the food raising business.

the industry will always have a reputation problem, because the media only reports the negative.feel good stories dont captivate people these days. the beef industry must remain independent. poultry,swine and dairy industries have become big time corporate businesses. if we can prove this only happens in these factories,then it looks like the small guy would have a chance.rusty
