Can calves be DNA matched to a grandsire if the sire is not available?

how many calves are out of the dead sire?  you might be able to make a panel.  i think you need 6 individuals to "make" a sire.

If you have dam, a full sib, a half sib, something that you can also run back to the bull, they might be able to fill In the parts,
