OK, thought that I would put up a few pics I took while we were helping down in Joplin. These were taken a week after the tornado, so the streets were cleaned. We cooked over 700 hot meals (half side BBQ chicken, rice, beans, roll, cold drink), all donated by employees of the company my husband works for, and boxed them up and drove around the devastated areas and delivered to the people sorting through their belongings. We did this for two days. I talked with a family this last weekend that lived down there but are now renting up here by us (we are about 25 miles north east of Joplin). He said he is not sure when or if he will rebuild. The family that lived next door to them were all killed, and he and his family were lucky enough to survive. He is just not sure he can go back to living there after all of the memories.... can't say I don't blame him! Anyway, this is not from the news or media, this is just what hit me...

It is amazing how a tornado can bend steel.  There is a photo floating around of a tree limb that went straight through a concrete curb.

It is going to be a long hard road to recovery, but it appears joplin has a ton of volunteer help.
