Okay, I just got this new camera yesterday so I am playing around with it.  This is a picture of my daughter and her steer for our county show that she will show in 20 days.  He will class out in the American breed class, he is 3/4 Maine and 1/4 Santa Gertrudius.  He weighs 1308 right now, we are trying to get him to about 1330-1340.  He has a nice finish to him, I just hope we can get him where we want him weight wise.  He has been a tough one every since she started him in September.  He had Mycoplasma and almost died, but with the help of our vet and our checkbook he made it through.  The ground is uneven where he is standing so it makes him look shorter in the front then he really is.  She also should have had his front feet spread more, but the dogs were making him mad and it was hard to get him set up.  Let me know what you think.  Lisa

Nice steer!
We have had a few bouts with mycoplasma- only lost 1 though.

We feed Fitters Edge feed to our picky eaters and it really works great

But back to the steer- he is pretty nice.  do you all have horses too?  I see the big arena in the back.  You also have some nice green grass, hope that works our way soon too!

Good luck with the steer.

Here is one more picture.  Again, she should scratched his belly more and he would have sucked up and his back would look better.  Thanks    (cow)

Fluffer - Yes we do have horses!!  I am very lucky to be married to a welder, he did a great job on the arena.  We don't get to ride much anymore every since my daughter has gone "cow crazy", but that is okay, I think I am becoming "cow crazy" too!!!

Yall have an awfully late county.  I figured they were all about finished up now.  What part of the state are you in?

When is the show?  Who is the judge?

She shows Tuesday, May 6th and the judge is Ed Schneider out of College Station.  We have never shown under him before.  I know nothing about him, I have just heard that he looks for a "complete" calf...... Lisa

Heck, Maverick County has theirs in January! Then again, that's the only time of the year in that l'il piece o'desert that's cool enough to have a show. Hardy livestock and tough people. Talked to the Ex. It's already been 96 degrees there, last week.

Pretty girl and nice steer.

But wow look at the grass.  Had a hard time taking my eyes off of the blue sky and green grass.  Haven't seen much of that in our neck of the woods yet. ;D
