What's his breeding? We haven't had a red steer that good at our county fair in a while.  He's super nice.  I bet you do really well with him.

That's a pretty nice steer!   And I am not just saying that to be nice, he really is nice.  He will look good in August, IMHO.  Good job & best wishes on your show!

Impressive! He looks very similar to a  heatseeker I showed four years ago...he was one of my favorites. Good luck!

Thanks for the encouraging words.
His breeding is HeatWaveI  and an “old” :) Maine Cow.

The calf has been a pleasure to work with from day one and converted really well on feed.

Our county is competitive so we are hoping to do well in class and then see how things shake out. Those good black one’s are hard to get past it seems like.

i'm guessing he's an ohio calf by what looks like a b.e.s.t. tag in his ear. what county are you in? the most competitive county fair i've heard of is clark county. they seem to have a real tough show every year with some of the best county fair steers in ohio.

As of last night {7-27} he is weighing 1290 full.
We move in on Saturday, weigh in is Monday night and the show is Thursday morning.
I’ll try to update as how things go.

Today was “Groom-N-Show” and Karee & Pud brought home 1st place in the Senior Division. In 4-H years she is showing as a 10 year old but she had won the Jr. division two years ago with a heifer so she has to show-up a division.
Weigh-in is tomorrow and we are hoping for around the 1300 lbs mark.

Finished 2nd in class to the Champion Steer.
The Champ was a real good one, of course my barn eyes had the two positions reversed ;D

Karee’s cousins took home reserve champion and county raised champion “with a calf Karee had raised out of one of her 1st year show heifers, more on that later”

Karee also won Intermediate Beef Showmanship, Master Beef Showmanship and Intermediate Showman of Showman “some fairs call it round robin”.

Good year I’ll be back Sunday with pictures and links from our local paper.
