popping paturnes

I have a yearling mainetainer heifer that in the past few weeks has started popping really bad on her pasterns. I am going to show her at the American royal and I am wanting to try and fix it before then. so is there anything I can do to help fix her popping? we have tried walking her more thinking it would make her pasterns stronger but it has only got worse.

"Cool down" her ration a little.

I am guessing that you are pushing her pretty hard to "power her up" for a show like that. A really high energy ration will make a sound one pop.

Just another idea or something else to look into.

The only two steers I've ever seen get this bolus ended up bucking over in the front end... Maybe you had better luck?

Never had an issue with bucking over in the front after the bolus is given. Seemed to work well for us.
