EXT was a result of a half-sib mating (Emulation 31 was grandsire, top and bottom).
As stated, unless there are lethal genetic defects in the mix, a resulting calf will likely be just fine. No need to insert human mores into the situation...cattle don't care... and, for the most part, genes don't care, either. A son/dam mating will merely increase the likelihood of 'fixing' both desirable traits - and undesirable ones, as well.
Commercial herd here, we have quite a number of cows that are the result of sire/granddaughter matings... and a few that are the result of sire/daughter matings. They're fine. But, if there were defects in the mix... the likelihood that they'll be expressed is increased.
That said, I never turn an AIed cow out to the bull until she's well out of standing heat... we usually wait at least another day, just to make sure.
