Are prolapsed uterus es caused by nutrition problems, genetic or just difficult births?  We have not had a prolapsed uterus in thirty years.  I saw one on the neighbors cow and three on a dairy, but this heifer had co daletins  the size of my fist and orange sized. Why would they be so large compared to when you preg check?

Uterine prolapse is an 'accident'; usually associated with a prolonged, difficult delivery.
No genetic predisposition, a cow/heifer that prolapses her uterus, post-calving, is no more likely to repeat the event at subsequent calvings than any other cow in the herd (or in the country).
The cotyledons enlarge throughout the course of the pregnancy, thus most are larger, at 9 months, than they were at 3-4 months or whenever you might feel them at pregnancy diagnosis palpation.
