I have a bull calf on the ground right now that is the best calf we have raised.  He is a Dirty Harry 2 X Who Made Who.  How do all these guys out there get these bull noticed by people like (Lautner, Trausch, and Rogers; for example) to buy them.  Do you have to be buddies with them or just contact them about it.  Any advice from people that have done this before would be great.  Thanks.

In the club calf and show cattle scene you need to only show professional pictures of your bull you want to promote. First impression and perception is everything! Unless is it an awesome picture, I would make sure you do all the work necessary to make the first impression very good. Then you will need to get respected people in the show industry to come look at him, give you their honest opinion of how much he may be worth. These may be people from your immediate area that have a lot of experience and success in the show ring. They may say you have a $4,000-$6,000 bull or they may say you have a $20,000 bull. Get several opinions of your bull and then maybe the word will get out a little bit. You can always search for the information of the people you mentioned and personally call them or just email them the information on the bull and a very good picture and video. That might get their attention. Good luck.

If you have a great one-and you can work a deal with any of the majors that are IN THAT BUSINESS-AND DO IT EVERY DAY-send the calf-and his dam or recip to THEM-and for whatever percentage-LET THEM develope him-other wise YOU ARE KIDDING YOURSELF-getting any mileage out of a calf out on pasture-that may or may not make it to maybe a state fair or a beef expo O0

Lautners bought one from a friend of mine this year. Lautner just came to look at calves and picked him out. He buys a lot of semen every year from the big guys and they just come and look every year. When he first started though he just called up somebody and they stopped by on there way thru. They travel all over and are usually close to everywhere at some point or another. Have them presented well and clipped even if it is in May or June. If you know they are stopping by.
