Just curious, when do most of you pull your clean up bulls out? We are having an argument here about when to do it.

We always decide on a date that we don't want to have calves after and take the bulls out when that day arrives on the calander.  A gestation table comes in real handy to figure the dates out.  Most years we pull the bulls to have calves no later than April 30 for spring calves, and October 31 for fall calves.  That would mean the bulls come out of the spring cows on July 22 and the fall cows on Jan. 22.  We also will roll cows to the fall group if they check open for spring calves, and the same for the fall group as long as they haven't missed a breeding season before.

this year our clean up bull was only out 2 weeks....about 10 days after we ai'd we turned him out....needless to say, we are going to have a really tight calving window this year!  (our numbers are small too though-7head).....  but that happens when you lease a bull and other people are waiting on him...

last year we had him one month...i had it figured so that he was turned out right before their first cycle after ai'ing...and he would be there long enough to get their second heat after ai'ing if needed...which wasnt needed...
