I pulled the cidr on day 6 and also gave the shot of lut on day 6. Could pulling the cidr one day early effect her coming into heat?

I have been told to NEVER pull early; you can leave them in up to a day longer with no ill effects but that they need the full 1 week of the CIDER.

The protocol we used this time was GNRH put cidr in and 5 days later pull cidr and give lutalyse wait 66 to 72 hrs. and breed and GNRH again.  This protocol was for heifers from our vet and he said leave the cidrs in at least the 5 days, he said you could leave them in 5 and 1/2 or six days if you wanted to have a more convenient time to AI.  We bred at the 66 hr. mark, and the AI tech was impressed with how hot of a heat most of them had!  I have not heard of  less than a 5 day cidr.  most seem to be 7-14, but the 5 day worked very well for us.

Most of the time we only leave them in 6 days and get along just fine.

6 days is just fine, the protocol was originally a 5 day CIDR, but the dairy industry can't handle that, so it was changed to a 7 day.  Gotta love economics.

I had a cows CIDR come out after 6 days and still gave the Estrumate at the same time as the cows that had the CIDR for 7 days and she came into heat just fine and became pregnant. What I have seen with that is the cow or cows might come into heat early, so put an estrotect patch on and watch to see if that cow or cows come in early, if not AI on the timed set from the Lute shot. But the cow or cows still will come into heat.

The latest info for the 5 day cidr program is to pull the cidr @ day 5 and @ that time give a shot of PG way 8 hours later and give another shot of PG. Reports of up to 20% better conception rates using this protocol verses the traditional 7 day protocol, but if you're not going to give the second shot of PG then you are better off staying with the traditional 7 day protocol.

There are numerous synchronization protocols out there.  I would suggest looking at those recommended by the Beef Reproduction Taskforce, A multi-state collaboration of land grant universities that do studies on and develop new protocols.  Their work is generally found in the back of all the AI catalogs.  http://beefrepro.unl.edu/resources.html
