Have a 1st calving heifer, she had a calf last night, had to pull it, but not a hard pull at all. So after pulling it i clean up and watch her for a bit and notice that she is real aggressive to the calf. So i pull the calf from her because everytime the calf tried to get she would head bud it and slam it in the ground. Today got her in the chutte for the calf to suck and kicks at it and is still real aggressive with it.  But everytime i pull the calf off of her and put it in a different pen she seems intrested in it. Just wondering if anybody has had problems like this and what did yo do with her so she isn't so aggressive to the calf? Don't want her to kill the calf.

We have a cow that does this for the first few days. What we do is put her in the chute and take a rope and tie her back legs to were she cant kick the calf and get him to sucking for a few days then she will get to were she wont kick as  much and before u know it calf grows up and nurses well. When we tie her legs it is not tight my wife will hold the rope so she can still move her legs she just cant get a good kick in on the calf.
