i know this is pretty irrelevant for most of us. but I thought some would enjoy reading about how the Japanese raise their special type of beef. Notice the beef get a bottle of beer & massaged during certain months of the year.

I watched something on tv about that. They get over a houndred dollars a pound. We have a friend that owns a feedload and he said a lot of people have tried to raise them but they feed them to like 1800 lbs or so then kill them. The bad thing was they were dieing of heartatacks before they could get them shiped.

Aren't those the hamburgers that cost a couple of hundred $'s?
A lot of time put into them. Fairly new tradition for Japan.

I was reading about a family in Texas that runs 4000 head of Wagyu cattle.  They market the meat in NYC.  Lobels, the butcher shop that sells their harvested product brings in $100.00 a pound for Porterhouse steak, $53/# for Ribeye, NY Strip $89/#.

Sounds more lucrative than Mini Shorthorns????  Watcha think!!

There was an interesting article in the Feb issue of Successful Farming about raising Kobe beef here in the US.  Here is a site that tells how to become a Kobe cowboy!  www.kobe-beef.com
