Its easy.  Finish weight  minus beginning weight divided by days in between.  Example  1300lbs finish  600lb start  700lb total gain  divided by 210 days equals 3.34lbs per day, that is your rate of gain

its possible like chambero said. but very unlikely. i have an american that gains 5.4 ppd and we cant seem to slow him down for anything. so its feasible but alot of times it isnt nessicerily good if its that high

We always weighed my kids calves every Sat. morning. Some weeks they wouldn't gain a pound, some weeks they would gain 20 pounds or more. I don't know how often you are weighing yours but ADG to me means an average they gain over the entire feeding period. JMO

If this calf is the one that you having issues of either lice or some other parasites, you maybe seeing some compensatory gains after you poured/wormed him. Bulls will gain faster than steers and 5lbs/day is possible. He will slow down here for a bit after being casterated but once he is healed up should be fine. Did you say that your show is in June? If so, you do need to keep him eating as much as he possibly will eat. Good Luck.

Brittany, if you give us a hip height and age, we can figure out his FS.

whoops sorry about that he is 12 months

Using Table # 2,(for bull calves), from the link that I posted, your calf's frame score, (52 inches tall @ 12 months age), is exactly a 6.5 FS.
