Liked roy's dad better, better footed more stouter sort of a calf. Roy tend to get a bit soft in the pastern, sakic calves look good kind of worry about them having enough stout, gonna be good calves, yrl's will have to see
I personally won't use Roy Rodgers or Sakic on my purebred cows. I think there are better bulls that are more complete out there. I know there are alot of Sakic fans out there and maybe I'll be surprised but I have to agree with cowman 52, I just don't think they will have enough gas in the end. I won't use Roy for alot of reasons that I won't go into here and I'll leave it at that. The Mulberries are pretty consistant on a wide variety of cows and really competative in the show ring. I don't know if you are breeding RA cows or something else but I have had good luck with Mulberry on Sams Prospector daughters and he really hits with some of the Bodacious and Negotiator blood lines. STAY AWAY FROM THE GRAND CANYON LINES! RW
Mulberry has tested clean. I'm assuming the other two have been tested as well but don't know for sure. They may be clean by pedigree but being the suspicious fellow that I am I don't trust other peoples pedigrees. If I were buying semen I would make sure they had been bled before I wrote the check. RW
I would use Sakic over Mulberry. We love our Sakic calves both the bulls and heifers are good. No shortage of stoutness i think that mulberry would throught less stout cattle then Sakic. It depends what you want if you are looking for nice show heifers and dont care about the quality of bulls then you could use mulberry.
TPX - Most of the higher selling bulls I have seen this year in auctions were Mulberries. I have a son that I raised that I will be using some heifers this year as well. Of the 200 - 300 Mulberry calves I have seen this past year I would say nearly half were bulls and as a general whole, most were pretty good.RW
I have a grand canyon heifer that I just bred to Red Dawg. The heifer wins everywhere she goes. We are in FL, and she has a ton of hair, bone, and body. She is an absolutely awesome female. I am excited about the cross between her and red Dawg!!
