There's no place for crossbred sires.  He would have prolly fed out pretty nicely as a fat steer though.
That's the silliest thing I've heard in a while...

I couldn't help but take your comments in the thread you started and apply them here:

"I just think it's funny that the whole motivation for writing this topic was to warn new comers to the cattle scene and help them understand some things but it's almost like some people have a problem with that. I pointed out some things that are undisputable within the cattle scene. Is part of it me venting a little bit? Sure it is. Not because I'm tired of losing or nobody showed up to a sale I had, but because I sincerely think that it's wrong. I'm not trying to tell people what to breed or that they shouldn't show cattle. I am just laying out some good information that they should know going in that will help them make decisions about how they are going to conduct their program. If this hurts somebody's feelings or gets them defensive I am not going to apologize for speaking the truth. You can either fall in line, play the game and shush your mouth, or do like I am doing, breeding what I want, taking the liberty to share with others my experiences, and feeling good about it"   <beer>
LOL, point very well taken there XBAR.  ;D I knew where you were coming from and understand why you would feel that way. I just don't think it is as black and white as you would like to think it is. I've got a bunch of calves sired by a crossbred bull and they are the best performing calves I have ever had. Even better than the calves they had when I first got the cows and they were bred to purebred Angus bulls , many AI'd. If you have a purebred Angus herd I think itwould make a lot of sense to use a crossbred bull. I didn't choose to spend double the money to acquire purebred Angus and instead got some really good crossbred Angus cows. Also, I just wanted to say that to you because I think I seen you say that to somebody else in another thread and I wanted to mess with you.  (lol)

Oh well I guess SimAngus, Mainetainers, and Chi arent going to be consistant because they are all crossbreds. I guess we need to just have Simmentals as tightly bred as we can.

Youre absolutely right! And then breed them to another breed that's bred as tightly, and then you'll really see what the heterosis hype is all about.

No matter Who says What, I'm a huge fan of the Show Ring.  Show him for the experience, but always show to win!  My philosophy is to Show what you Grow, but realize that opportunity doesn't exist for some.  So, Show what you Have, and have FUN!
