I read in the Red Angus journal where Durhams were used to improve the Angus line in the 1700 0r 1800's across the pond. I always assumed that the red gene in the Red Angus was a mutations of sort. However...could it be the red came from the Shorthorn part of the deal? I know I was disscussing this deal in town the other day. This guy said the Red Angus had to have something else in it's makeup. I explained to him that it was a color mutation. So....could this guy have actually been right and the red gene was introduced by the Shorthorn. Could this be proven on way or the other? Also no one has responded to the question that keeps me up at night. Has there ever been a polled buffalo(bison, bison,)? Maybe some grant money is in order here. ;D
