revlar implants

what exactly do revlar impants do and dose it afect the soundness of the calf just kinda a random question and it bugs me when people start talking about stuff and i have no clue really what it is if i have a fair steer and i do it will the meat taste weird or any thing someone just suggested it to me idk

Revlar will not make the meat taste funny.  It is a growth implant so it is going to increase the growth rate for the calf.  Most calves that go to the feedlot and most that go to the shows all get an implant of some type at some point.  Yes it can affect soundness. Most implants can have side effects of causing them to be tighter strided, but if your calf is good structurally you should be ok.  You typically see issues when a calf has a pre-existing structure problem then the implants make them worse.  If you calf is straight at all I would avoid an implant.  Implants can also make them a little cresty necked and big tail headed, but again if they dont already have issues in those areas then you should be fine.
