Well I need ya'lls opinions, I got a new 2011 Kia Rio Like 2 weeks ago. Well yesterday at work a guy movin headgates with the skidloader hit the side of my car making a nice scratch in the drivers door. My car was nowhere in the way it was in the designated parking space at the farm. Well my boss tells me to get a quote, I called my insurance to see who is the approved repair shops are in my are and there is only 2. Well one was $902 and the other is $895. Well today when I came in my boss was like can you go to such and such body shops(which are not approved by my insurance, the jo shmoe joints.) That they dont wanna claim it on their insurance due to it to go up, and he said it would make mine go up( I wasen't born yesterday, I know it being their fault wont affect my premiums) that they want to pay no more that $550. I mean I just got this car and want it to be right and if it isnt done at the approved shops that it could affect me in the long run and no turn around. The issue is I also dont wanna loose my job over this :-\ so I dont know what to do. Its a big dairy farm that I work at. Also note in the picthat my car is a wonderful color with matallic flakes in it. Please tell me what yall would do, Im so flippin confused

If you don't want to cause problems, have your boss give you the $550 and take it where ever you want and pay the difference. My 2 cents

This shouldn't effect your insurance, they should be filing the claim on their insurance.  A couple years ago, the wind caught the door on a company pickup and it smacked the side of my car.  We just filed a claim with the company insurance and they sent me a check for the quoted price.

Don't let people push you around, get it done right and get it done your way.

That is a tough one, but it should be fixed correctly with no out of pocket money from you.  Maybe a compromise would be to shop around a bit and see if you can find it a bit cheaper from another shop that does good work.

Wouldn't the farms insurance pay for it?  If you are required to use your vehicle for work, your work should pay you, or run it through their insurance.

As for them only wanting to pay $550, tell them you wanted a car with no scratches.   ;D

Not saying the other shops can't do it right, but if in the future you need work done on the same spot, your insurance may not cover it.  Due to it not be done by an approved shop before.  Just my opinion.

I got an idea to get their attention, jump on the skid loader, find the bosses new truck and accidentally run it down the side of his truck. Tell him, that you don't want to affect his insurance or yours, so here is a twenty for some touch up paint from auto zone. ;D

That was what I was wondering why they wouldnt just put it on the farm insurance ??? And the last point is what I been pondering on, what if it is bad workmanship on the repair job? My insurance isnt going to cover it.


Chiangus...lol I thought about it but all they drive is beaters, if it was the boses wifes new car, I bet he woulda charged it to the farms insurance n a heartbeat.

I was wondering would them renting the farm be the issue e dosent want to turn it it??

1- I will tell you metallics are the hardest to match paint wise. To make it look right they may have to blend the whole side of the car hence the cost.
2- They damaged your new car. Are they going to make the payments for you? You can file a claim on your insurance and your insurance will just sue them to recover damages.
3- You went to the approved body shops. I think I would have to tell my boss that it was the farms responsibliity to restore your new vehicle to its previous appearance and even if they do it will never bring back the value because you now have an accident unofficially and it does affect the retail value of the car.
4- I wouldn't let them push you around either. They have to fix it. The insurance doesn't say fix it where they say its appropriate you get it fixed where you are comfortable with the work. Heck you could get some fly by night deal that does a half ass job and then what? You have to stand your ground on this one.

Took my buddies truck home one nite and hit a deer with it. Called him right away and he said not to worry. His daddy owned the truck and called me couple days later and said he couldn't turn it in or he would be dropped on his plan. I said fine I will turn it in on mine, nope didn't want that. $3600 damage and he wanted me to pay half. And to keep the peace  I did and work was done at another buddies shop. When truck was done the shop told me they turned it in on THEIR INSURANCE AND KEPT MY $1800. I know now why they are loaded.....still friends with him, parents not so much! They can kiss my butt!

Tell your boss to take care of it! Always good dairies looking for help!

I've been involved in the body shop industry for 22 years now. To start off with, there are insurance program shops that they are negotiated lower rates with due to the fact they will try to steer business there  way. By law you are not required to go to those shops. You are not even required to get 2 estimates. The shop you choose will write an estimate & compare it to the insurance adjuster estimate & go from there. The majority of shops will give a lifetime warranty on their work & their paint. If they don't I wouldn't go there. From what I can tell by the pics they are going to have fix & paint the fender & door & then blend onto the hood & back door for it to be right. Unless he has a bunch of claims already this shouldn't drive his claims up . He probably has a $500 to $1,000 deductible , so if I was him I wouldn't even be thinking about my insurance anyway. I would explain to him about your concerns about it not being fixed right , especially with it being a brand new car. OHB is right , any accident will affect the value of the car if you try to sell or trade it ,in the next 5 to 6 years. I understand your concerns about your job , but maybe he also values you as a great employee also & won't think twice about it.
