In light of the recent thread by SKF on the rather"unique" rules at their county fair, I thought I would share our current rules as they are up for review again. Anything you really like? Anything that doesn't make sense? Are we missing an important area that should be addressed to avoid conflicts in the future? In our situation, we have three fairs in out county that all have 4-H shows. The livestock committee of each fair can propose rule and regulation changes but they must be approved by the 4-H council which is comprised of representatives from all aspects of 4-H (dogs, cats, horses, clothing, you name it) so sometimes it is difficult to get what we think is necessary.

Ah yes, the Hudsonville Fair!

I didn't see anything about tampering with the animal, drug use re the animal (but there was for the kid), veterinary inspection, health requirements for the animals, RFID tags (yeah I know we all have to have them), and instead of nose prints you might want to inquire about swabbing for DNA - sure is less messy :)

9. so you have to do showmanship? but why is it only for market animals? wouldn't that be unfair to those with breeding animals?

We do not have a breeding cattle 4-H show, only market market livestock. Not sure why?
