After reading Librarians post about Galloway/Shorthorn calves i was curious if anybody could help me distinguish British White's from White Galloway? i bought this cow from a friend who buys cattle at the sale barn strictly to fatten up. She was not guaranteed bred/not bred. She ended up having this baldie heifer calf and i bought them as a cow/calf pair just because i thought she looks like a nice cow. I was thinking i might be able to get some cool looking calves out of her. So if she gets long hair this winter does that mean shes Galloway? Has anybody ever tried British Whites for clubbies? The calf looks Simmental to me because of the way the brisket looks almost attached to her chin, but i have no idea.

ONce I was able to clean up the picture and reduce the size. The cow looks like Galloway or Galloway cross. Could be Shorthorn Angus possible. I like the cow. She is compact deeper bodied. Looks like she is milking well. I think Monopoly would click on her. A couple years ago there was a really neat heifer very similar one of the big clubby guys sold. WHite with the black tips. Breed cautiously first go around. You can always have her pelvic checked breeding soundness exam.

I agree on the Shorthorn-shes got that look-I think shes a good percent Gallaway to look at her. HEY OHIO-I do remember a white hiefer with black tipped ears sired by FSF Hardline-Hes a Hardcore out of Fereers  highest  Shorthorn Doner Valley Rose-who is also the dam to Stardust (I think) Bearcat, Assasin, Turners white Jazz bull-and a bunch of others. O0

I would also say she is Shorthorn x Angus or some type of Galloway composite. The fact that her calf did not follow her color pattern rules out British White for me. I used to ai for a guy that had some British Whites and their color pattern was extremely dominant! He had some bred down to 1/16 British White, 15/16 Angus that still had the color pattern of a purebred BW! Nice find for a salebarn cow! Looks more than decent to me and really nice uddered.

Thank you for the replies, if she's Shorthorn cross she will fit right in. Thanks for the suggestions as well, i appreciate the input. Monopoly is to rich for my blood, do the clones work just as well? For this round i bred her to BNWZ Jose (don't know if she stuck yet) i didn't want anything to clubby until i know how she calves.

Sorry about the pictures, should i be cropping them before posting? i took them with my phone.

From what I saw this year our state fair, calves were out of Monopoly clones were no different that the Monopoly calves. I like your choice on Jose. You should get a nice calf either way that is interesting color pattern. Are the insides of her ears red or black?
