Saskatchewan Manitoba snowstorm, and anyone else that got hit by it. They were calling it a weather bomb on the news and I have never heard that term before.
Just wondering how much snow you ended up with out there? We were lucky and some cows are still at pasture but will have to get the rest of them home this weekend in case we get a storm like that.

We got whacked with it.  Where I live in Melville Saskatchewan we had a good amount of rain then the snow started about 8 to 10 inches.  Then the wind got up and blew  the snow around.  People were getting stuck all over.  They closed the Trans Canada for while.    A good layer of ice with some water underneath.  The streets are glare ice and rutty.  At the farm Kipling SK  they got about 12 inches of snow.  The older calves ( March calves) are all weaned sure glad we did that before this arrived.  Most of the cows are out on stubble and the water hasn't froze yet so I think they should be okay for a while.  I hope it gets warm enough to melt some of the snow we don't like feeding quite yet.  The only good thing out of this it helps grow hair on the calves we are taking to Agribition ;D.

Not much snow here but just enough to make for zero visibility at times. My cows were still grazing in 7 different pastures and some of them have no shelter other than the fence posts. When the storm was over, many of the cows ears were hanging straight down like Brahman cattle from the weight of the ice that had accumulated on them. Fortunately, most of the storm occurred with temps just around freezing so it could have been much worse. Just today I heard a guy from the weather office and he said they are now calling this storm an " inland hurricane". That is another term I have never heard before as well. Of course when you get a wind like that it does not take much snow to make piles where you don't want them. We have some 10 ft porosity fences with snow almost to the top of them, but outside the fences, there is probably less than 2 inches of snow on the ground. The ground is still warm enough that we will be black in another day.. except for the snow banks we didn't need right now!
