Found this on you tube. What does everybody think about one of the most popular angus bulls in the breed? IMO he is severly overweight. His poop is screaming through a screen door. Even on my best grass, I have never seen it like that. The grass looks awesome but I say he and the cows are being fed something heavy. The cows are even fat. I sure respect the place and what they do but I have more questions then answers after the video. Who are the popperazzi in the pick up?

The photographers look like they are from Argentina or some place like that. The bull is fat , but I don't think the cows look like they are that fat .

At first I thought the cows were plenty fat.  After you look at them u will see that their tailheads are not fat at all.  We have all seen  donor cows that cant lift their tail.  From what I see these cows are that good and of course from that operation what do you expect.  Is the bull really that fat or real?  Look at the spots on the body that usually show fat first.  I think he is real.

Seems that this video is a pretty good argument instigator.  I would think he has been around long enough by now that there should be a pretty good feel for what he can contribute.

All I know is that there is no fear of his belly button rubbing on his backbone any time soon.

Not fat? Wow well its all opinion bit most of the cows I saw were a BCS 7. Not crazy about net worths hind legs. Really doubt they get the we and ye in that herd by not feeding them heavy. Bandwagon looked pretty decent though.

Yea the cows are fat, but these cattle probally never run out of grass and then get fed good in the winter, I would not expect to see anything else (these are not first or second calvers).  Our mature fall cows get really fat over the summer with nothing but grass and they really hold up good through the winter with calves on them.  A animal gets 4 or 5 years old and gets good flesh to them they can take alot and still be fat.  Net Worth is going on 8, how many skinny 8 year old bulls have you all seen, especially ones that have been collected as much as this bull?  My problem with looking at a mature bull and calling him a heck of an animal is alot of 4- whatever bulls look good (they reach a certain condition with age and they just don't fall back), but some of them didn't look like much earlier in life.  So they need to look good at weaning, yearling, and as 2 year olds as well as later in life (IMO).  It looks like in the video he might have a little trouble getting around and covering a large # of cows as big as he is (maybe).  As far as the #'s on Net Worth, I'm not impressed he's poor on calving easing, high b.w., real good growth, below avg. docility, so so grid value, Mature weight is +58 and Mature height is .9 = bigger cattle, I like SAV Final Answer alot better as far as #'s.  We never have owned any of these genetics but alot of people have and obviously they work for alot of people.  They are good cattle just not everybody's cup of tea.  ;D

IMO the cows in general did not look over done for the feed they were on and the type of operation (seed stock producer). Some nice udders on some of those cows. The fatter cows they singled out on the clip I though may have been donors. It always amazes me when people come to look at your seed stock cattle despite all for there talk of how they want range ready bulls and cows run under commercial conditions the first bull they want is the fat shiny one in the show string or the fat lazy cow due to be shipped because she puts all on her back not in the calf. No surprises with the Net Worth bull I agree with some of what nate says. He is not a bull for me I have used him and not a fan. For females I would much prefer the second bull much smoother made (more neck less shoulder).
Looking at bull clips. Some interesting bulls in the Remington sale bull 1515 is my pick an Argentinian bull. http://www.cattleinmotion.com/issuu/remington-land-cattle-complete-dispersal-angus-herd-sires-bulls-and-semen Now some of these bulls are fat.

So what is the resposibility of a seedstock producer? Feed your cattle as much as they can eat to maximize performance? Or test your cows and make them earn a living on what they can find? Or both situations could be correct? Maybe Schaffs is more terminal? Sneed's more maternal? I dont see a right answer just different opinions for different situations. I have never had a truck full of folks taking pics of my cattle so I guess I need to get back to the chalkboard.

There are places for both for sure, some do both, some do one or the other.  Choices for the kind of cattle you want to raise and the kind of customer base you want or need to supply to.  If I was a seedstock producer (which I am not, at least not at the moment), I think I would want to do one or the other and try to develop the best.  Work on quality, consistencey and then if need be work on quantity (but don't sacrifice the basics of beef production to get there).  IMO
Maybe I should get a chalkboard? ;)
