How does saw dust work as bèdding? Would it work better packed in a fan cage for calves tied up in it through oit the day or just loose in their barns? I am getting about a trailer load for free from the schools wood shop. Thanks

If it is anything like our high school wood shop vaccum it will pick up nails and all sorts of little debris, just might want to check it out good before using it

Yeah it for sure picks up the nails the magnets dont snag, but I have a 3 foot magnet on wheel, that I used when I got wood chips from a pallet place.

I would also worry about the dust.  That stuff is going to be extremely fine.  It is also going to be alot dirtier than straw.  If you are going to use it I would recomend spraying it down twice a day at least.

It's great if you keep it neat and don't get behind on cleanup. If you let it get really wet it can be a pain to clean out.
