The Aussie's believe that the show ring should be used to display breeding cattle, as opposed to just displaying show cattle. I think here in Canada we do much the same. I really like the lot 2 bull, and feel he is a bull that can do a lot of good in any country. I am also very impressed with some of the cattle I am seeing in Argentina, so impressed in fact, that I am planning a trip there to see if they are as good in person as they appear to be in the videos I have seen.

I have seen some excellent beef bulls in the UK and think there are some there as well that could breed well in North America. Many of the bulls around the world I seem to like have US and Canadian bloodlines in their pedigrees somewhere, which suggests to me, that these breeders in  other countries are selecting more on productivity than just show ring appear than is often done here in North America. In those countries, show ring appeal and productivity go hand in hand... and I like that!

Nice find XBAR. I had a visitor from Australia last year. He really wanted to check out Complete. He talked about how they breed Shorthorn cattle for performance. One thing I liked is that they always look for Shorthorns that will lose their hair quickly in the summer and adapt to the environment. A lot of our show shorthorns are being bred to keep hair during the summer. I also really like the lot 2 bull. He looks pretty nice.

Be careful, Gents! I was practically chased off of this "Forum" for making that EXACT same statement on here 4 years ago.
