Couldn't help myself, my friend (who checks my cows for me as I'm not in the same State as them :p) sent through this pic of one of my "massive" Australian cows, and I just had to share.
The bull calf at foot is about a week old, and I plan on cutting him for next year's Royal Adelaide Show Shorthorn feature to boost steer numbers. That is, unless he doesn't get sold first, as I've already had some interest in him.  ;D
The cow is by Shadybrook Scotty and from a Springwood Station cow. You can see what a great udder she has, she's very similar to her dam.

ETA: This is the cow I mentioned in the Shorty heifer bulls thread as looking like a dairy cow when we weaned her last calf.

How old is the cow? She looks good, if she milks all that condition off- man is that calf gonna grow! I really like the calf too but that's probably because he's a week old and they are all so cute at that age! Looks like he'll grow up to be quite a calf!

tdu, that is a super pair!  When you get over here we need to talk about a possible flush in this momma cow.My first thought of who to flush her to is to Osh Kosh ( if semen would be available).  We can never have enough here of her calibre. What breeding is the sire of her calf?

Thanks Grant, it means alot to hear such positive comments from everybody- I tend to be fairly critical of my cows and it's not often I feel the need to show them off! I think a flush to Osh Kosh would be superb. I was considering using either Osh Kosh or Touchdown on her mother.

The calf is an interesting story... we had the cows running with a Belmore bull (by Jackaroo out of a Fuel Injected daughter), but my bull jumped in at some stage so we'll need to work out which is his sire! If it's my bull, he is a son of Trevino Wando from a Broughton Park cow, so a very interesting mix of bloodlines. Don't you love "oops" matings!! ::)

I think she's too big to fit... you know what they say about those huge Aussie cows! :p
