The one story I heard was that the one breeder bred his bull to a large commercial herd and played mickey mouse with the numbers to bring his bulls bwt numbers down. The shorthorns data base is small enough he pulled it off. The shorthorn cow can have a large calf unassisted so these 110-125 # bwt calves are floating all over the place.

I asked a guy about bloodstone semen and he said that bloodstone semen was about $900 a straw, totally not worth it I do however have Big and Rich (full brother to bloodstone) semen in the tank and think I will just stick with that.

Does anyone have any "Big and Rich" calves? I saw that bull in a ad, and spoke with owners. He seemed pretty legit. Any experience with him?

We showed a heifer out of him last year.  You need to use him on really thick, easy fleshing cows.  Our heifer was really long, deep sided, rocket fronted, but he could have been thicker ended and bigger boned.  Nice hair too.  Our heifer was champ ShorthornPlus at our regional IL Shorthorn preview show, and I think she was champ at my sister's FFA show too.
