Simangus VS Maine Angus

Both have their place and one isn't "better" than the other. Simmi's will you give you a touch more frame and bone because they are generally larger cattle. I believe straight Maine cows can work well in clubby production, you see a lot of winners with Maine dams.

So in your opinion the Simangus would probably be better for an embryo operation and the Maine angus for AI?

If you take anything away - know that there is more variation within a breed than there is between them.  W/o seeing the individuals- we have no idea.

Yes, I understand. It was more of a general question. I have a herd of very nice looking angus cows. Good size, great tops, nice feminine look to them. I am just worried about breeding, even the older ones, to a clubby bull and killing the cow with a huge calf. I was convinced the Simmental cross was the way to go but the more I study I see that the Maine has more of the look and seems to be just as good an option to increase the birthing ability of the cow.
