Slcik Sheer Shows

No slick sheer shows where we live so I know nothing about them but I have always wondered if there is any skill involved in slick sheering a calf, in other words are there any tricks or is it as simple as it sounds, just take all the hair off?  Not planning on doing it but just curious.

When I slick shear my cattle for the summer or for the Red brangus national show, we just take a big set of clippers and go against the hair and cut it all off. It is that simple! But if your blades aren't perfect, or you have a chipped tooth in the blades, you will have lines on your calf which isn't too attractive, but with time will grow out nicely!!
