just got back from cousins county fair. will put some pics up in a bit. this is the familys second steer and this year they won their class and got reserve champion in first division (roughly 20 calves) i also took some video which i will put on youtube
and also ya'll probably cant wont beleive me but this calf has had NO FAN/COOLROOM/MELATONIN . and also only the last couple weeks have they had a blower.
the calf is a golden child x chimaine named hairy, formerly named flash and i would say they did a good job fitting him for never doing it before
he weighed in at 1114 and made it to the final drive. in the 6 calves in the ring, IMVHO he stood 4th overall but was a not conditioned enough ( not bad for 2 years of 4-h, being 4th overall out of roughly 50 )
some back ground info on the calf
he was purchased for 650 bucks, my buddy wouldnt sell him to me, when he was a young calf, he was crippled, or well on the path to that destination anyway, they bought him even though we warned them of his structure. i saw him for the first time in months about 3 months ago and he looked like junk. when we clipped him last week he was a completly different beast. the day they bought him, was the week before this calf was to be sent to the sale barn
