Never had a sick calf before and am not sure what to do.  Our Chi has been eating normal and have no problems with him.  He ate normal last night and seemed fine but when I went out to feed this morning all the others ran over like normal to eat but our Chi just stood there very still.  While the others were eating I put the hay out and he did come over and eat that.  I waited for the hay to get in his system (to maybe settle his stomach?) and then about an hour later took him a feed pan and a bucket of water.  He only took a sip of water and a couple of bites of feed.  He is just laying down and I know he doesn't feel well.
Any suggestions on what we should do??

If you are new to dealing with this, take his temp if you can and CALL A VET. Sometimes that is the first thing they ask me is "does he have a fever". If you cant get a temp just CALL A VET.

Thanks for responding I am really worried about him.  Tips on taking calfs temperature have never done it before.  Also, what is a normal temperature?

Put a thermometer in his bum. You can put some OB lube on it so it goes in easier.  Normal temp is 101.5 degrees F. Hope he is feeling better soon.

Normal temps can range from 100.5 to 102.5.
Is it possible that it is the time of year that it doesn't take as much energy to satisfy the calves and he is backing off for a feeding or does he seem lethargic and punk? Are his eyes bright? He may have just overate the last feeding. Usually this time of year this question seems to come up for PPL.

Any chance he ate more than his share of grain the night before? I have had it where sometimes feeding a few one will get more than his share and go off his grain for a couple of days
