I like that Spice Girl..she has a cool look anyhow, I'm no brahman expert.  My girlfriend thinks their ears make them look like bunnies!  (lol)

Kolton, we tagged steers Monday for the majors here in Texas.  You'd be proud of your Lead On Brahma steer of Fawcett's.  you need to contact them and have them send you a pic.  he's one cool dude.

I really liked that steer, I would like to see what he is looking like now.  Can you post a picture to share?

I love the Brahman influenced cattle.  My son will be showing a black brahman this year.

Nice cattle!!

Hey Mr. Bradshaw, its good to here from you. I am pumped that he is doin good for them, and you were right he couldnt have gone to a better home. The cow at the top of the page is actually his momma and she is bred back to a black baldy godfather son named white eye.

I am attaching a pic of the steer that i took the day the Fawcett family picked him up. Kylie is sending me more pics and i will send them to yall as i get them if you would like.

Nice Cattle!  Call me a stupid Northerner, Don't understand the qualifications in Texas!  Have seen quite a few on here!  Please explain the qualifications for me!  I assume there's a whole seperate division! Is this for Brahman influenced or  purebreds or do they have a seperate division for purebreds?  What percent B do they need to be?  Do you just breed a purebred B to a clubbly bull?  Does it pay good to win the division at the Texas majors?

Enlighten me please, don't know much about this breed of show cattle?

It would take me a while to get used to all the Ear?  I deal with pleanty of Ear every day when I look in the mirror and at my 3 Boys!   <party>

Thanks for the comments RSC. There is a class for pretty much every brahman influenced breed simbrah, santa gertrudis, brangus, brahman, and a american breeds cross class. Classifying is a game and gets interesting lol To show as a brahman the calf has to show a minimum of 50% brahman characteristics, which would be ear size and shape, sheath, prevalent hump and position of the hump to name a few. simbrah is basically classified of whether or not they appear to be american influenced and portray simbrah color patterns. Santa gertrudis has gotten really wild, they have to show brahman characteristics but they can almost be any color. Brangus they are the most strict on with classifying, the steer should look high percentage brangus. and ameican breeds cross is like your AOB for brahman influenced cattle, as long as they have a little sheath and some ear they usually can get in the class.

All of it may sound kinda crazy and it kinda is but it really does keep the quality high, being able to cross them up so much. Just let me know if you have any other questions. Hope this helped lol

Kolton, White Eye and your gray cow - that ought to be interesting.  I've seen White Eye several times in Oklahoma.  He's real moderate framed, lots of muscle and chisel fronted.  I told Lee Fawcett he better be on your list for that calf.  BTW, not knocking your pic but the steer really looks better than the pic.  Terry.

Does it pay good to win the division at the Texas majors?

After Grand and Reserve Grand, there isn't much difference in the payouts for any of the breeds.

At Houston, each of the 16 breed champion is guaranteed $15,000.  At San Antonio, it's about $8,000.

Man it sure is nice to see pictures of "eared cattle" on here. They are having the state junior brahman show this weekend in Bryan, Texas and the national junior show is at the same place next week. We are headed that way tomorrow.

I get all sorts of stuff for liking mouse eared hairy cattle down here in Texas....it sure is nice seeing folks do the opposite to the very common Brahman influenced cattle down here. It's really funny when everyone thinks American influenced heifers don't show with hair at our barn, they sure did look funny being the only heifers at ft with with no hair! But I'm still the crazy one... Lol

lol its crazy how foreign these brahman cattle are to yall up north.

Speaking of, the national junior simmental/simbrah show was in texas last year and we made sure to have brahman influenced heifers in the livestock judging classes. The reasons takers said most of the northern kids just talked about how the heifers needed to be cleaned up in their neck and navel. After the contest they were upset we used brahman influenced heifers in the contest.

That is a bad excuse on there part. They should know the breed characteristics of american influenced heifers..thats basic livestock judging 101.
