I just want to share my most recent success. We got 3rd out of 14 heifers. It was the biggest ORB class. She's an Eye Candy X Char/Chi. We have changed her feeding from 24 pounds of sweet feed a day with 3 pounds of Beet Pulp to 12 pounds sweet feed a day, 3 pounds of Beet Pulp, 3 pounds of Cottonseed Hull, and 6 pounds oats. She has and has had unlimited hay. Opinions?

She looks good! Is she a fall of '12 calf? What did you breed her to?

Haven't bred her yet. She is an October of '12 calf. She just turned a year a few days ago. We aren't going to breed her until December. I have no real idea of who to breed her to, I might use Rumor Mill, but I'm not 100% sure.

I-80!!! 

I know he is a calving ease/heifer bull, but I am absolutely amazed at the number of really good I-80 steers being sold this fall.

I think I want to breed her to a breed that adds middle/guts, and gets her calves a bit less club-y. That's why I'm not 100% on Rumor Mill. What are opinions on Beef Maker? Rushmore?
I like 'em both, but it makes me nervous to use a Simmi with basically no knowledge on the breed. Thanks in advance!  <beer>

To add middle I'd say I-67. Saw a few I-67 x Milkman calves that were damn good and your calf is similar in that sense with Heatwave and char background.
