Just sitting here working on State Fair thank yous and was just curious what some of the other states do.
We put a packet together for each of the breed champion and reserves with a photo card and 3 other thank you cards the kids write.  They take a picture with the prize they won and the animal and it goes on the front of the card and these are all mailed out before the kids leave the fairground.
We put on a Grand Drive the night of the show and the breed champions and reserves all come back for overall champion, after the champions are all selected there is a buffet line for the sponsors, judges and exhibitors (each exhibitor gets a ticket) and families.

What are some of the special things that your state does for your buyers, sponsors, corporate sponsors etc.?

Our state fair sponsors an exhibitor's BBQ one night.  Also, all of the sale qualifiers go to a buffet reception prior to the jr market sale to smoozze the potential buyers.
Our state livestock association hosts a private dinner in the arena just prior to the final drive of the junior breeding beef, so that there is a full house.

Getting into the market sale is the primary goal.  Only the Champions get buckles.  Champion senior showmen get scholarships.  Otherwise, ribbons.

We don't have a market sale, only the Champion and Reserve are terminal and they receive 10,000 and 7,500, and they both get buckles.  Each of the breed champions get a savings bond of 1,000 and whatever the prize is that year (they have done clipper boxes, buckles, directors chair etc) and the breed reserves each get a 500 savings bond and whatever the prize is.  The plus side to not having the auction is if the steer is a great one but isn't quite done you can take him on to the KJLA show, Royal or Louisville.  In showmanship both Jr. and Sr. champion gets 250 bond and buckle reserve is 100 bond and buckle 3-5 are embroidered bags.

You know Kansas used to be like that, the show here was in really bad shape and 9 years ago (I think) a group got together and approached the Fair about making some changes, the Grand Drive is funded by private donation and sponsorship and the turnaround in the livestock quality and numbers has been nothing short of amazing.  We have been around long enough to have shown in both and I can tell you our family will be forever grateful to that group of people!

They need a health certificate within 30 days, don't see anything on the bangs tag.
