steer feet trimming

First time i have ever had a calfs feet trimmed was this morning, went smooth.... :) as for my cousins steer...it had the runs and coverd the table :D luckily we were first in line at 7:30 and glad....the trailers were rollin in but i wouldnt have minded to stay all day and watch the competition steers (county fair competition) come off the trailer.... (clapping) (cow)

Until last year I did all our hoof trimming myself. Thought I did a OK job. Then saw what a professional could do and then the results with the steer. He covered his track so much better and was freer moving. Now have them come to the ranch and do everyone a couple of months before the fair. If someone gets a hoof that needs it before then I still do it, but have it redone with the rest.

FB - It's who wasn't there that will be at a real disadvantage come fair time.

why is that

Because their steers' hooves will be too long and they will probably stand and walk incorrectly.
