This is my simi angus steer. He weighed 955 last week and needs to be 1000lbs by January 28th. What supplements can I put him on to get him a little heavier. I also want to drop his flank.
-He eats about 25lbs a day
-Full cup of depth Charge twice a day.

I'm gonna say reaching the weight requirement shouldn't be an issue at his current weight and feed intake... unfortunately you're going to be hard-pressed to get him close to finished by then. Idk anything about dropping the flank, but try adding some stabilized rice bran to add some fat. And what are you feeding him for hay/roughage?

I agree with what shorty breeder said about his weight. I don't think you will have a problem whatsoever with him making that in the time period that you have. As far as the flank goes we feed beet pulp to our show calves to get them to drop in their flank as well as fill out through their flank area. we just give them about three pounds daily, soaked so it swells and is easier to digest than it is for them when fed dry. However we start feeding them at the very beginning of the season. I don't know how much it would help with this time period. Purina also makes a supplement called depth charge that is reasonably priced. We have tried it on a heifer and have been pleased. Hope this helps. Good Luck 8)

Start with 1lb/day and work him up to 2lbs/day--that's the typical recommendation on this site as far as I've seen

Beet Pulp is pretty much scientifically proven to fill in the flank area. It's about the only thing you can "feed on" other than overall fat.

I would add the stabilized rice bran, as directed, and 3 pounds a feeding of beet pulp. We always fed the beet pulp dry so it expands after the eat and drink, either will work. As long as he cleans all his feed up I would get him on free choice hay as well, you need to expand his guts to get the flank to drop.

By now you should have decreased his protein intake and increased his fat, the stabilized rice bran will help do that.

Feed him more.  'About' 25lbs isn't going to cut it.  You need to know exactly how many pounds he's eating and exactly what the energy level of the ration is.

Definitely add the Stab. Rice Bran.  That will put a nice cover on him fairly quickly.  If you add too much too quick, he will get the runs.  Just back off and slowly increase again when he returns to normal.  The Beet pulp or cotton seed hulls for expanding his gut will help also.  You can get the rice bran at Tractor Supply - it's a horse supplement. Pellets or meal - I have fed them both.
