I took my son to a Stock Show U grad program last weekend.  It was a great experience and would highly recommend it for anyone.

I have been before with my kids. The time and effort put in by everyone was unreal. Everyone walks away learning something no matter how good we think we are. Very hands on for everyone and they show all and tell all.

I'm pretty excited to see that there is going to be one held in Midland, MI. this year.  I have signed up and know of a few friends that are planning on attending as well.  Should be a great learning experience from what I have heard.  Just hope I can find a heifer for my daughter and I to take by then.

We took an old retired heifer.  My son is 10 and I just turned him loose.  The professors worked very hard with him and showed a lot more patience than I have. He learned a bunch and during the showmanship part of it you could see him gain confidence.  Their were a few kids who did not bring calves do to the distance and they made sure they were teamed with other kids and it worked very well.  So I would go with an old retired one or I would still go without one.
