I have been workin with my calf all winter, and just noticed it yesterday. There is a bald spot on 2 of my calves. The bald spot is about 2 inches wide down to the skin. I thought about causes being ringworm or mange but from what I have been reading both of those conditions would also include scabs or irritated red spots.  We have none of that.  I realize they will start shedding this time of year but the bald spot had me baffled.  Any suggestions??????????

treat it like ringworm and if it is an organism of some sort then the ringworm methods should kill it since fungi are so tough.  We've had ringworm that was only mild dryness of the skin, especially if you're noticing it as soon as the hair slips

Yes, it could be lice.  If it is, a single application of sevin garden dust along the topline from poll to tail should do the trick.  If you're rinsing him daily, you might apply it a couple of times.
