I am getting back into showing cattle this year with my 9yr old son.  I was wondering what the breeders are using to stop the tails from swishing.  At a few of the more well known farm sales this past month,  it was almost as if someone had frozen the tail the way the animal held it.  I have been around cattle enough to know that whatever it was, it was not natural.  No visible sign, ie tail tie or fishing line was used.  Just wondering if anyone knows what people are using now days.

I can't speak for everyone but once our cattle become used to being around people & handled, they just don't swish except at flies.  For that, we try to keep them clean and use fly spray as needed.

does lifting of the tail still test for this?  judges used to do that a lot when i showed years ago.  i've seen one judge who did this recently, but he did it to have everyone reset.  maybe it was to do two things at once.
