Got 5 on Friday just to see if they were junk or the real deal and put them on two cows and three heifers.  We had blinking lights tonight on one of the cows!  <party> I could tell when she had started standing and how many times she had stood.  We probably would have missed her because I never saw her stand at all when I was able to check her today.

I am sold now.  I will definitely be ordering more for next year!

www.cowbreeder.com is the sight that explains how they work and gives a video.

I ordered them from PBS animal health.  Valley vet also carries them but didn't have them in stock.  Through PBS they are 32.95 each.  I was a little frustrated with them at first because I thought they wouldn't work but the tech support guy said the waterproofing sometimes gets stuck on the button and you just have to play with it some.

we used something like that a couple years back.  Had to glue this thing on her, and slide the light into it.  Our biggest gripe was the cows rode so much they tore it off her back.  We had to look thru poop for flashing lights to retreive it.  I think we lost 3 or 4 and that was an expensive lesson

These have a pouch you slide the light in and then glue them on, the trick is to use a LOT of glue and we used a rubber scrub brush on the cows tailhead to get all the dead out and stand the hair up.  The tech support at cowbreeder told me to use at least an ounce of glue per patch.

I could see if the cow had really blown her coat, like some of ours that they wouldn't stick, because you would just be sticking them to skin.  We put ours on and they have been through 2 downpours within 48 hours and they are still stuck firm.  But once again, the cows had some hair left on them.

SOunds like what we used.  We tried everything and kept loosing them.  I will admit though, we have a couple cows that really ride the one in heat hard, that didn't help.  It's been about 4-5 years ago, hopefully the glue they use is better now.  We just cut our losses and went back to kamars

Our problem was with the plastic.  They would ride each other to the point that they would rip the plastic and the light stick would fall out and the patch was unusable.
