Charlie Arbaugh of Alderson West Va passed very suddenly the other day.Over the past couple years Me and Gargan kept trying to get ahold of him to come see whats up but he just didnt have a voice mail. Then Id see him at West Va State Fair and he was the same old friendly cordial person.Alot of people probably have never heard of him but he had a really good herd of home bred cattle They are not the typical hardoing skin and bones dairy rats that sometimes come to mind RE old herds back here.-And when he could afford to go-Hed show up at Louisville out of nowhere and stand second in class to the big operators. He was a really good guy and everybody liked him.He also produced some really good 4H calves etc. The first time I went down and visited him was in 1991-And he had an impressive Dividend son from Herman Purdy of Penn State U- I think Martindell used him later. So he strived for quality for years. The way his cattle are bred and maintain themselves-they would be very useful to a show oriented outfit that also wants cows. That maybe has Red Reward-Hotcommidy etc e genetics-as they are a long mixture of Irish to clubby to Canadian to whats new.
