In one covered part of my kids' little steer shed, I hung 2 fans with misters in front of them. I'm kinda slow, just finally getting this stuff done over the weekend. I have just been letting them go in and out of that part whenever they want. But I was wondering if I should be tieing them in there during the day. More than likely, they won't get shown until December , so I was just wondering if there were any advantages to doing that. At night, I have been turning the water off, but leaving the fans on, mainly to help dry it out from all the water, but I'm not sure if they go in there and lay down when it's not very hot. Thanks

personally I would tie them in during the day and put a timer on the water so it would run like 1 minute every 10 just enough to keep the calf cool and I have also fixed up a deal that the water runs through a fridge to cool it off to about 40 before blowing it on the calf did not see much advantage to this maybe a little though

The timer deal sounds great, but there is no way that i can talk my wife into the fridge thing. I googled water timers, and all I could find were household/garden type timers that just work once or twice a day. Is there something else that I need to look for?

look at QC supply under dripper controls they did have them from $50 to $1000 We use the Edstrom computer controls in our hog barns and they work good also have used some of the cheaper ones in the show barn seemed to work fine
