We have a heifer that my 3 older kids used for a clipping test subject. We unfortunately now have a couple pretty good gouges courtesy of a 13 year old and a turbo a-5 outfitted with a super blocking blade. I would like to use the mtg on the spots to help the hair grow back quicker. Can this be done and will it really help. Gotta love their enthusiasm to learn.

First off, Thank you for letting them try! That is one of the best threads I have ever read on here because for me not enough young members are given the chance to try, fail, build and learn.
Unfortunately rinsing and under a fan is the best advice I can give you. Gouges take time to grow back in. My sister and I when we fist started tried everything to get faster growth but not a whole lot worked. I will always thank my dad for letting me get after it and for keeping me level headed as I supervised my sister, haha.
Keep in mind even though there are gouges any young member that clipped their own will beam with pride when someone says, 'you did a good job', I sure did. We all started out that way.

Good for you for letting your kids learn by doing.  Have to admit that I did chuckle over the gouges - reminded me of the time my youngest grandson, after watching his older brother's lamb get clipped, decided to try it on his own head then had to explain to people why he was running around with a bit strip of hair missing.

I have found MT has helped in growing hair.

Glad to hear that kid's are trying.

My 6 year old girl clips. Not the best but she is carefull of gouging.
