In two weeks I'm hauling some of the cows off to get AI'ed, they have one month old calves at their sides. I'm curious to know what vaccine would be best to give to the calves? The cows were vaccinated late last summer with cattle master, so they're going to get boosters before they go. Should that vaccine match what the calves get? The area I'm taking them to has been known to have a case of black leg every now and then, so that must be kept in mind when choosing a vaccine. Thank's in advance!

I give my calves a 5 way live vaccine and a separate blackleg shot. My vet says that I can vaccinate calves that are one week old or more. My cows get a different live vaccine at the same time.

You might consider asking your veterinarian as vaccine protocols vary with herd, area, previous herd health issues etc

I would ask the people who will be housing your cows what they vaccinate for. Pretty short notice, but you might be able to get them vaccinated in time for some protection.
