Last night at about midnight we had our first calf. It was the who made who that I was sweating over. It was a tiny heifer calf weighing only 58 lbs at 4 days early. Unassisted out of a first calf Angus heifer. I am happy with that. I will get pics as soon as I can.

It is a good feeling when you have one so heavily aniticpated make it out fine with no problems. Congrats! Look forward to your pics.

Isn't just a great feeling going out to the barn to see if the cow calved and you see the calf up and healthy i just love that feeling.

Well today I got home from school and went out to check on "HER" and what do you know "SHE" is going to the bathroom and not the heifer way. So it turns out that it is a bull but hey not complaining. Maybe the next calving ease bull LOL. Here are a couple pics not the best but will have to do. Thanks for the comments.

you know, there is that thing that's dangling between the legs on bulls... if they have it.. they're a bull....

heifers also have something between their legs, or a lack of.. but it's more behind them...  If they have two holes in the back... its a heifer... 

funny how stuff like that works ???

Hey it was midnight and I am sure you were overjoyed with seeing a nice live calf, so I won't hold it against you. Heck, I have known full grown men, in the middle of day light, preg check a steer.....
