We have a lot of females bred to him. Great heifer bull, but may not have the big time size to compete at the national level. Great club calf bull though, and the tops to use on heifers. Unless you want to us 3W Payoff.

Good friend of mine ownes him now and he got dropped off at my house the other day for a lay over. He's as good a mature bull as you'll find. Has produced dome geat calves. He works great on anything with double stuff in them. Calves can be big enough for hfrs. Had to pull a couple last year but weren't hard pulls. His son Jazzmans calves have started hitting the ground they weighed 50-75 lbs. They look good.

From what I have seen of his calves he can work really well on cows that are too framey, flat, or narrow.  I would have to say that the best calves I have seen out of him came from cows that were clean fronted and level hipped, and they were very good.  There are some of his calves out there that get a little vertical in their shoulder, deep in the chest, or slope out of their hip.  Just my opinion and observation, so take it as you will.

I seen and used JPJ befor Dustin bought him. He comes from some old line shorthorn breeding. He was cussed like the wind about 4 years ago, mostly by breeders that had no clue who he was or what he was capable of producing.I laugh now that he has proved them all wrong. When Dale Studer, Don Cagwin, Don Stout, Cates and Sullivan along with Schrag's and Jungel's,Melroe's,just to name a few of the heavy hitters,let alone the smaller unheard of breeders,both purebred and clubby alike started using him with great results,all the bad talk stopped. He is not the answer for everything,for which there is no bull for that,but he is the best outcross bull that has come along in quite sometime for the Shorthorns. Some of his sons appear bred for the club calf market,which I hope they do well. Several of his son's are showing up in AI advertisements,and alot of his son's are Herd Bulls in commercial and registered herds alike.He is as versatile as you would like any bull to be.Dustin Glover can be thanked for bringing all the attention to Jake,and deservedly so.Just goe's to show you that there are clubby breeders out there who know good cattle,and know's how to breed them.

jake should get the credit.  wanted to do something different than his dad and tim bought 5 calves from cal poly when they dumped shorthorns, and one of those produced him or a daughter did.  i don't remember if tim helped poly get the original shorthorns or not but he probably did.

The first time I ever talked to Dustin he said JPJ could change the breed. I've sure seen a lot of great cattle out of him and had a lot of success with them. As for who deserves credit - you tell me - Ohlde sold him and Dustin bought him. I sure wouldn't have sold him if I knew he had the potential to bring in the semen revenue he has brought in.

sometimes selling good animals is a good way of advertisement.  then people won't think you have too many secret pastures.  nothing beats advertising where your customers make money too.
