I sent you a PM...I am actually in East TX, but I am more than willing to help out if I can be of service to you at any time. I dont do this for the money, I do it because I like doing it, so if you provide the grooming supplies(other than clippers) I will do it if you help out with travel expenses. If this is for a junior my only real request is they be involved in the process. I strongly believe in the purpose that these projects were founded on and that is for these kids to not only learn about the industry but learn valuable life lessons. When I am fitting I like the exhibitors to be involved and learning and hopefully get to a point where they dont actually need me. I will still help out if needed and wanted, but I hope that the exhibitors take enough pride in the project to want to learn themselves. If the exhibitor has no desire to learn and be involved then I honestly dont have much desire to work for them. I know that sounds harsh, but my main goal is that these exhibitors truly get all they possibly can out of these experiences. I think the biggest injustice we do in these projects is hire someone to do all the work and just send the exhibitor in the ring, but that is just my two cents worth. No hard feelings if you feel differently.
I also have to second Braden's suggestion of Kevin Doonan who is in Central TX. I am actually working with a family that is buying a scramble heifer from him, and I gave him a job I was supposed to have during the open show in Houston but wasnt able to make because of a family emergency. My friends were highly impressed with him, and from talking with him and working with him in finding thise heifer I have come to admire him as well. Kevin is an impecable young man who seems very honest, hardworking, and trustworthy and values what these projects are all about as well.
