Got our calves weaned today and we're very happy with how things went.  ;D Now let's hope the fence holds them were they are supposed to be! We don't have any fancy cows but we are really pleased with the way are calves did this year.  Just wanted to share some pictures of our hodge podge group! The  grey steer is well over 700lbs. (too big for a 4-H calf for our son, I think)  The light red heifer is one that I would like to keep as a replacement because she comes from a very good easy keeping easy fleshing cow.

Sorry clicked post before I put the pics on!  ::) Up the Creek, saw your steer for Harleigh today. He's turning out alright eh? I'm glad the road is fixed. We were hauling cattle with an old semi that has a sleeper on it, so the kids were having a grand old time in there while we were driving!!

Yes Harleigh's steer is looking good.  I don't expect him to be a big steer but I hope he looks as good as his full brother that she showed last year.  The girls are bugging me to go get the other calves home.  Hopefully I can be ready for them in the next week or so.  That grey steer looks good.  He might not win the rate of gain award if he is starting that big, but there is no doubt that calf is full of meat.  I would be proud to have my kid stand 2nd behind him.

I forgot to mention that all the calves are either 1/2 black angus or 1/2 shorthorn.  The black angus bull had frame score of 5.1 and the shorthorn was over a 6. Our cows are anywhere between a 4 and 6 for frame score.
